Out & About in Glasgow

The best comedy venue has to be The Stand (333 Woodlands Road, 0870 600 6055). It's hardcore laughs here, where some of the finest comedians in the country have braved the notorious Glasgow audiences. If you're looking for something to give you a good old adrenaline rush then leg it down to Xscape (Braehead, 0871 200 3222), where you'll find wall-climbing, snowboarding and all manner of exhausting activities. Felling like a genius? Then the Glasgow Science Centre (50 Pacific Quay, 0871 540 1000) is fantastic. Here, you can try experiments and check out a load of weird and wonderful displays. If it's culture you crave, it doesn't get much better than the Kelvingrove Art Gallery (Argyle Street, 0141 276 9599). Art through the ages, exhibitions and lots of stuffed creatures to drop your slackened jaw at. Marvellous.

Top five summer activities

Take a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park - Lions and tigers and bears (and stuff). Oh my.
Drinking at Cottiers - Al fresco boozing heaven.
Doing lunch at Merchant City - They say you get what you pay for.
Lying quietly in Kelvingrove Park - Beautiful and (largely) ned-free.
Drinking at The Lab - A city centre boozer with a beer garden. Genius.

Top five winter activities

Kelvingrove Art Gallery - Gorgeous, free and interesting (and heated).
Science Centre - For all the big kids out there.
Cineworld - The glass elevator is worth the trip alone.
Boozing in Moskito - It's too cold to go outside anyway. Sno!zone at Xscape, Braehead - Falling on your tush has never been so much fun.
