The City Varieties Music Hall was built in 1865 above the White Swan pub in Swan Street. From the fifties to the eighties the theatre had national renown as the venue for the BBC show The Good Old Days which was a nostalgic return to old-time music hall featuring the likes of Leonard Sachs.

Roundhay Park (right) covers 700 acres of parkland, woodland and lakes. It’s one of the biggest urban parks in the world. There are many birds including gulls, geese, swans, herons and grebes. There is also an open-air swimming pool that dates back to 1907.
