Cracking French eaterie in the basement of the swanky new apartment complex that was The Wellesley hotel. It's a bit grittier than its nearby rivals, which is actually a good thing as you feel like you've conspiratorially stumbled across a hidden treasure. The food is very good and well priced with noveau cuisine bashingly large portions, and the absence of any windows justifies at least three bottles of wine with lunch. Plus there's a ginger bespectacled waiter who you'd swear is called Nigel and comes from Stoke, but is actually French.
