Leeds City Art Gallery

Having undergone a makeover last year, Leeds' very own Art Gallery is back on top form and looking more like a little Louvre every day, but Da Vinci Code fanatics, please refrain from littering the place with naked corpses. If you find portraiture a bit stuffy (or just become terrified by the conviction that their eyes are following you), there is an impressive collection of modern art and sculpture on the upper level. There are regularly changing exhibitions, some of which you can even buy from, though a postcard from the gift shop is the best we can hope for.
