Leeds has loads to offer in nightlife. This really is a city that likes to party.
Since dance music exploded onto the scene in the early nineties, Leeds has enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as one of Britain’s favourite clubbing spots. Often described as the top clubbing city outside of London, the city is best known as the home of innovative club nights Back to Basics and Speedqueen. This is one of the country’s most popular destinations for stag and hen weekends.
The bars on Call Lane offer a great atmosphere for going out. Jake’s Bar and Norman are always busy and offer great food; their perennially popular DJs also attest to its popularity. If you’re in the mood for a very classy night out, we’d suggest Oracle, which is very stylish and has an outdoor Moet terrace which overlooks the city’s river. But if you’re looking for something with food, we’ve also got lots of restaurants we’d recommend.
Oporto was recently named the Best Night Out in the UK and it has become very popular with local musicians as well as tourists and students.
Other great places to go to include the Hifi Club, the O2 Academy, Belgrave Music Hall and Mojo.
Leeds is definitely one of the best party cities in the north and easily rivals the Liverpool, Newcastle Manchester. With a big student population there are plenty of bars, pubs and clubs to grab a drink with mates or to dance the night away!
